Mechanical Keyboard Troubleshooting

For M4G mechanical keyboards. This guide covers the most common issues and the fastest fixes. Follow the steps in order to avoid wasting time.

Quick guide

Start with simple checks before assuming hardware failure.

Most mechanical keyboard issues come from switches, dust, USB connection, software profiles, wireless pairing, or accidental liquid damage. Try the quick fixes below first.

Switch issue

A key works sometimes, sometimes not

If a single key becomes inconsistent, it is usually a switch issue or dirt inside the switch area.

Quick Fix

  • Remove the keycap and clean the area from dust or hair.
  • If your model is hot-swappable, remove the switch and reinsert it firmly.
  • Test again. If the issue continues, replace the switch.
  • If the same key keeps failing, contact support for guidance.

Important

Liquid spill on the keyboard

Spills can cause short circuits or corrosion. Act fast and do not keep testing the keyboard.

Immediate Steps

  • Unplug the keyboard immediately or turn it off if wireless.
  • Do not keep typing to test it.
  • Dry the surface carefully.
  • Leave it to dry completely before trying again.
  • If liquid reached the PCB, the keyboard may need inspection.

Lighting

RGB is off, stuck, or not changing

Most RGB issues are related to shortcuts, profiles, or settings not being applied.

Quick Fix

  • Check the keyboard shortcut for RGB mode and brightness.
  • If your model supports software, apply a different lighting profile.
  • Make sure settings are saved or applied.
  • Try another USB port and avoid USB hubs.
  • Test on another PC if needed.

Random input

Keyboard types by itself

This is often caused by a faulty switch, debris, stuck keycap, or hardware damage.

Quick Fix

  • Disconnect the keyboard and inspect the keys.
  • Check if any keycap is stuck or blocked by debris.
  • If hot-swappable, identify the problem key and replace that switch.
  • If not hot-swappable, contact support for guidance.

Hardware check

A full row or column stopped working

If an entire line of keys stops working, it is usually a PCB or keyboard matrix issue.

What you can try

  • Try another USB port.
  • Try another cable if possible.
  • Test the keyboard on another PC.
  • If the issue stays the same, the keyboard may need inspection.

Wireless

Wireless stopped working

Bluetooth or 2.4G issues are usually fixed by charging, relinking, or switching modes correctly.

Quick Fix

  • Charge the keyboard fully.
  • Confirm you are using the correct mode: wired, Bluetooth, or 2.4G.
  • Forget the device on your PC or phone and pair again.
  • For 2.4G, try another USB port for the dongle.
  • Test wireless on another device if needed.

No response

Keyboard is completely dead

If the keyboard shows no response at all, start with cable and USB checks.

Quick checks

  • Try a different USB cable.
  • Try a different USB port.
  • Avoid USB hubs or adapters.
  • Plug directly into the PC.
  • Test on another PC.

Checklist
